Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin have been awarded top positions in recently published “university rankings.

According to the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016", mathematics at TU Berlin belongs to the top 50 worldwide. A total of 42 subjects were evaluated and 12 TU Berlin subjects were placed in the top 100, with mathematics leading the way in 45th place. The HU joined the TU as one of the leaders in mathematics after being placed high up in the rank group 50-100.

According to the "Times Higher Education World University Rankings", Germany is the second most-represented nation in the list of the top universities in Europe in 2016, with 11 reaching the top 50. Institutions were measured on their teaching environment, research environment, research influence, industry income and international outlook. Of the top 200 universities in Europe, HU Berlin was ranked 15th and FU Berlin was ranked 26th.
