The 3rd Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) took place from 23 to 28 August 2015. 200 young scientists from over 50 nations met in Heidelberg to extensively interact with some of the world’s most renowned scientists in mathematics and computer science. Two BMS Phase II Students (Nevena Palić and Yannik Stein) and three BMS Alumni (Felix Günther, Kaie Kubjas and Margherita Lelli-Chiesa) attended the HLF this year.

Felix Günther is the only young researcher who has attended the forum twice. In 2013, he attended the HLF as a PhD candidate from the Institute of Mathematics, TU Berlin. Now, in 2015, he participated as a postdoc from the European Post-Doctoral Institute for Mathematical Sciences (EPDI). "I utterly enjoyed the first HLF", Felix said and one of the outcomes is that until today he is in contact with various other HLF13 attendees all over the globe.

There are several stages in the career of a young researcher during which they might apply to attend the HLF:
- undergraduate
- graduate (in the PhD-Phase)
- postdoc.

The Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation annually organizes the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, which is a networking event for mathematicians and computer scientists from all over the world. The HLF was initiated by Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS), a German foundation which promotes natural sciences, mathematics and computer science, and the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). The Forum is organized by the HLFF along with KTS and HITS. It is strongly supported by the award-granting institutions, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM: ACM A.M. Turing Award), the International Mathematical Union (IMU: Fields Medal, Nevanlinna Prize), and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA: Abel Prize).
