Good places to eat:

Studentenmensa in HU Main building:

Looking at the HU main building from the front (coming from Unter den Linden) the Studentenmensa is in the left wing of the building, on the ground floor.

You can eat warm meals here, for prices ranging from about 2.50 - 3.50 €.

Opening hours: weekdays 8:00 - 14:30.

The meals are paid for using a "Mensa Karte": you can buy one for a deposite sum of 1,55 € from the staff of the Mensa at their cash point. They will also load this card the first time at their cash point with the sum you would like to put on it. Afterwards you load new money on to the card using the cash machine, which is also in the Mensa. At the end of your stay, the last time you eat in the "Mensa" you return the card and receive back the remaining sum on the card along with your 1,55 € deposit.

To be able to profit from the lower student prices, you will have to show your student ID card. Otherwise the prices are higher.

Caféteria in HU Main building:

Looking at the HU main building from the front (coming from Unter den Linden) the Caféteria is in the left wing of the building, on the ground floor (there are also tables outside).

Opening hours: Mo - Thur 10:00 - 16:00, Fr 10:00 - 15:00.

Caféteria Dorotheenstr. 24:

There is also a nice Caféteria, where you can also sit outside if the weather is good, in the building of the Department of Philosophy in the Dorotheenstr. 24. This is right behind the HU main building. It is usually open 9:00 -17:00 on weekdays. 

Good places to eat are also:

The small restaurants under the S-Bahn starting at Friedrichstrasse along the Georgenstrasse on to Hackescher Markt.

•    Among these is the 12 Apostel, Georgenstraße 2 (corner Planckstrasse), if you have time for a real pizza dinner.

•    Or continuing along the S-Bahn there are a variety of restaurants facing the Monbijou Park, for instance Pizzeria  Rustica (near corner Oranienburger Strasse).

•    Or going on along the S-Bahn until Hackescher Markt, where there is also a wide variety to choose from in the vicinity.
